Our library has relied heavily on community resources since it’s founding in 1930. In fact, every time the library burned down (it’s happened twice!), community members stepped up to house the library in their homes and churches until we could build a new library.
That rich heritage continues today. We couldn’t provide the high level of service we do if it wasn’t for our community members, who donate money or books, or our volunteers, who help us process, shelve or repair library materials.
If you’re interested in contributing, stop by, give us a call at 928-368-6688, or send us an email. We’d love to hear from you!
Monetary donations
We use monetary gifts to support our mission. You can make checks payable to the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside or donate online through PayPal.
Used book donations
We generally accept new or gently used items for our library collection. We evaluate all gifts in accordance with the criteria applied to purchased materials so we may refuse items which do not meet our objectives and collection development guidelines. If we don’t add a donated item to our collection, we’ll either sell it in our Bookstore or recycle it.
Volunteer
We encourage the participation of community members to achieve our mission. We provide opportunities for volunteers to help with both routine operations and special programs or projects at the library. Tasks which volunteers may perform include:
- Shelving
- Repairing
- Processing
- Straightening/facing/dusting
- “Paws for Reading” assistance
- Providing technical assistance
If you’re interested in volunteering, submit a Volunteer Application (PDF, 127 kB).
In recognition of volunteers’ significant contributions to the library, volunteers who are also registered cardholders are entitled to the same borrowing privileges as library staff (4 week check-outs), as well as an annual volunteer appreciation gift and luncheon.
